All these terms refer to the delivery of therapeutic services over the Internet through a variety of delivery systems including:

and real-time text, audio, and video chat

 

The terms include services delivered by professionals such as psychiatrists, social workers, psychologists, counselors, and nurses as well as by therapeutic self-help groups and trained volunteers.  Internet-delivered therapeutic interventions include online professional advice, prevention, assessment, intervention, case management, and supportive services.

 

This special issue of the Journal of Technology and Human Services seeks to present the most current practice and research on Internet-delivered therapeutic interventions in human services.
