*Students should contact the Office of Undergraduate Recruitment at (817) 272-6287 for information concerning the admission application process. To begin the application process, students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and include the UT Arlington school code (003656). Approximately 1/3 of all FAFSA applications are selected by the U.S. Department of Education for a process called verification which means that UT Arlington is required to collect additional documents from the applicant. Therefore, it is important that students complete the FAFSA at least 2 weeks prior to the deadline and respond promptly to requests for additional documents. Applications are not considered to be complete until all required documents are received by the Office of Financial Aid. Typical verification documents include signed photocopies of the 2009 federal income tax returns for both parent and student and the Verification Worksheet. The Maverick Promise is not a specific fund but rather a combination of grants including the Federal Pell Grant and all other federal, state, and institutional grants added together to equal the cost of tuition and fees. Students may be eligible for additional funds though loans and the Federal Work Study program to cover other educational expenses such as textbooks, and room and board. Students who apply for financial aid after the Maverick Promise deadline date and meet the other conditions listed will be awarded grant assistance on a funds available basis. Maverick Promise recipients must be enrolled at least half time (6 credit hours). Students may be eligible for the Maverick Promise in future years if they complete the appropriate FAFSA for each subsequent year, continue to meet the conditions listed above for each subsequent year, and meet the UT Arlington Satisfactory Academic Progress requirements. New freshmen students are eligible for the Maverick Promise for up to 5 years and new transfer students are eligible for up to 3 years. UT Arlington reserves to right to reduce the amount of the Maverick Promise awarded to students who receive other scholarship assistance, grant assistance or specific tuition waivers that are designated to cover tuition and fees.
